A Warm Welcome

You’ll be greeted at the door by Chris Merritt, our founder. He’s a very sweet man with endearing little dimples. He’s also a seasoned coach with over 20 years of experience — 14 of which have been running Beyond Strength. There are a lot of Sterling, VA boutique gyms, we’re the only one that’s been helping people reach their training goals since 2011.

 

Chris will give you a quick tour of the gym and a breakdown of the weekly class schedule, walking you through which classes are on which days and the focus of each training class. After the gym tour and the class breakdown, you’ll move into the consultation office to have an in-depth conversation about you and your training goals.

 

Getting to Know You

There’s something else you need to know about Chris. He’s an incredible listener. That’s one of our biggest differentiating factors. Unlike another fitness consultation you might do in Loudoun County, our main focus is you and learning about you. There’s no hidden agenda. There’s no high pressure sales pitch. We want to help you. And to best help you, we have to get to know you. That’s what Chris does during the conversation. It’s a relaxed environment, and he’s a relaxed dude, so you can feel comfortable chatting about where you are now and where you’d like to go with your fitness.

 

As you chat with Chris, the two of you will work through our Roadmap Questionnaire. It is designed to help you formulate and state your goals super clearly — maybe even more clearly than how you currently see them in your head. You’ll also dial in on what’s most important to you with a few simple questions.

 

Then you’ll chat about simple, actionable lifestyle factors such as activity level, sleep, and hydration and how they’re currently impacting your fitness and your life.

 

On top of all that, you’ll work through your training history as well as health history so that we have a full scope of where you’ve been and where you are now.

 

At the end of this part of the conversation, you’ll have actionable takeaways that will immediately improve your life and your training — even if you decide training with us isn’t for you.

 

 

The Not-So-Sales Presentation

Now, this is where most personalized training gyms in Sterling, VA would try to hard close you. We don’t do that. Chris walks you through our training options while showing you visuals of each so you can see them, read, and think for yourself. But he also doesn’t leave you hanging. Based on what he’s learned about you and your goals during the conversation, he offers his recommendations on what would be the best place for you to start training with us. He does that without offering even an ounce of pressure. We don’t want you to train with us because we hit you with a fancy sales tactic. We want you to train with us because you want to train with us and because you see how we can help you get to where you want to go. We’re confident that you’ll see that by the end of the consultation — so, why would we pressure you?

 

 

Next Steps

Unlike other Sterling, VA fitness programs, our next steps are designed to truly personalize your training and your experience so you’re set up for success. Here’s how it works.

 

If you decide to train with us, the next step is scheduling your Certainty Session. This is a one-on-one session with a coach. During that session, you’ll walk through mobility tests based on the Functional Movement Screen, strength tests, and conditioning tests to dial in on exactly where you currently are to determine your exact training needs right now. But it’s not just testing. Through the course of the session, you’ll dial in your technique while also learning new training skills. We use what we learn in this session to customize your training. Even though we run small-group classes, you’ll essentially be doing your program. We’ll select the exercises that are right for you and guide you to attend the classes that meet you where you’re at right now to take you to where you want to go.

 

After the Certainty Session, you’ll do your Concierge Session. During this session, you’re one-on-one with a coach within one of our group classes. This set up helps you get the flow of the classes while also giving you the upfront coaching you need to be successful before stepping fully into the program. You’ll also get to meet other members and start connecting with the community.

 

Then, you’re cut loose to schedule classes and get after it with your training at Beyond Strength!
