USA Weightlifting Certified Club Coach (2009)
Growing up, Geoff was always an active kid, playing baseball and basketball. He got his first weight set at 15 years old and used it to pack on 25 pounds of muscle in one summer. In high school Geoff played football, lacrosse and wrestled but found his true passion in strength training while in weight lifting class, which inspired him to apply for a job at the local gym. After working in the gym for a few months, Geoff realized personal training was the perfect combination of doing something he loved, while also allowing him to share his passion with the community.
A few months after turning 19, Geoff became a certified personal trainer and began working in a few different gym environments. After several years, these experiences led Geoff to create a brand he was proud enough to share with the community. He opened up two gyms in the Northern Virginia area. During this time he was introduced to the sport of strongman, which he had grown up watching. In 2005 Geoff started competing in various strongman competitions and fell in love with the sport.
Although he loved competing in strongman, Geoff suffered from a myriad of chronic injuries acquired from the brutal training. In 2013 Geoff reached out to Beyond Strength’s Chris Merritt, to find a balance between recovering from injuries while still being able to strength train. After a year of training with Chris, learning, and gaining an understanding of the Beyond Strength philosophy of strength training, he decided to join the team and begin coaching.
Geoff is incredibly excited to bring well over a decade of experience to help better the members of Beyond Strength Performance NOVA, LLC!
Geoff is currently enrolled in the Paramedic Program at Northern Virginia Community College. He will be graduating in May of 2015 with a degree in Emergency Medicine and will become a National Registry Paramedic .
